Meet the Doctor
After serving in the Air Force, Dr. Ference opened his practice in Johnstown. He is one of only 17 dentists in Pennsylvania board-certified by the American Board of Oral Implantology This is the highest designation of skill attainable in the field of implant dentistry. He has been placing and restoring implants since 1986. He was the president of the Northeastern United States and Canadian section of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In addition, he is a Senior Associate Editor of the international Journal of Oral Implantology, a major research publication presenting leading edge research articles worldwide. He also served as Editor in Chief of the AAID News, a publication read by over 5000 dentists worldwide. It features continuing education opportunities for dentists and various specialists interested in developing more skills in the areas of reconstructive dental procedures, particularly as it relates to bone and soft tissue grafting and implant placement and restoration. He served on the Continuing Education Committee of the AAID choosing speakers and topics for the national meetings that are held annually. He has also been awarded the designation of "Fellow" of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. This is a title awarded to those who have met the challenging tests and demonstrated many years of successful implant experience.
